The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) Campus Life Department, in collaboration with departments across campus, hosted UIW’s version of this year’s National Night Out on Oct. 7 on Dubuis Lawn.
UIW took first place in the 2014 National Night Out Competition’s college/university category and placed second in the city behind Fort Sam Houston for the Top Overall Award. The competition was organized by the City of San Antonio Police Department. This was the first year UIW participated in the event.
UIW students, faculty and staff enjoyed an evening of games, activities, music and free food as well as received valuable information on campus safety, healthy living, sexual assault prevention and drug and alcohol awareness.
National Night Out is celebrated in neighborhoods nationwide with the goal of creating a safer community by promoting police and community relations, crime prevention, and neighborhood camaraderie.
