Seventy-two candidates interviewed for UIW’s School of Osteopathic Medicine’s (SOM) inaugural class during the first weekend of interviews on Sept. 9-10. This included students from Texas and out-of-state applicants from as far as California, Maine, Maryland, Florida, Utah, and Georgia, among others. SOM faculty and administrators, main campus faculty, physicians, and community colleagues assisted with the interview process. An interview weekend was also held in October, with more dates scheduled in November, December, and the spring. A total of 700 candidates are anticipated to visit campus and interview for the school. As of September, SOM had 3,354 students who had started the application process, with 1,584 completed and verified. The inaugural class is expected to be approximately 150 students.
