Board of Trustees

John W. Feik
John W. Feik is President and Chief Operating Officer of DFB Pharmaceuticals, as well as DPT Laboratories and its other subsidiary, Healthpoint Ltd. DFB and DPT. DPT is one of the leading technology companies in San Antonio, with over 100 scientists in its Research and Development department.

Mr. Feik graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Finance. He was a member of Alpha Sigma Chi and was the founding President of the Phi Delta Theta Chapter at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Sister Helena Monahan
Sister Helena Monahan was named Congregational Coordinator for the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in January 2002.

Her affiliation with UIW began in 1972 when she joined the faculty of the English department. She served as Assistant to the President from 1977 to 1986, when she was appointed Vice President for Academic Affairs. Sr. Monahan became Incarnate Word’s legal counsel after earning a law degree from the University of Houston in 1996, a position she held until 2000 when she became the U.S. Province Coordinator for the Sisters of Charity.

Sr. Monahan also holds a Ph.D. in English from St. Louis University. She is actively involved in a number of professional associations, including the State Bar of Texas and Christus Health
in Dallas.

Sister Walter Maher
Sister Walter Maher is currently General Councilor of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.

Sister Maher received her BA in History and English from Incarnate Word College and her MA in Information Science from Rosary College in Chicago. She also received an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio.

Sr. Maher has held various positions in the community. She was a corporate member of Christus Health System, and a facilitator for the Mission Leadership Retreats of UIW.

John T. Montford
As president of SBC Southwestern Bell and SBC SNET, John Montford is responsible for all regulatory, legislative, governmental and external affairs activities in the SBC, Southwestern Bell and SBC SNET regions of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and Connecticut. He was appointed to his current position in July 2002.

Mr. Montford joined SBC in September 2001 as senior vice president of external affairs, where he was responsible for SBC’s regulatory and legislative operations throughout the 13-state territory.

Prior to joining SBC, Mr. Montford served as Chancellor of the Texas Tech University System, where he was responsible for the University's legislative affairs,community relations, budget, development, marketing activities and strategic planning.

In addition, Mr. Montford served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1968-1971. He also served as an elected district attorney from 1979-1982. Mr. Montford has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Texas at Austin, where he also earned a law degree.

William G. Moll
William G. Moll is President of Clear Channel Television, a division of Clear Channel Worldwide in San Antonio. Prior to taking the position, he served as President of WKRC-TV (CBS) in Cincinnati.

Mr. Moll’s wide-ranging experiences include positions as President/General Manager of WNBC-TV in New York; President of the Television Bureau of Advertising (TVB) in New York; President/CEO of Harte-Hanks Broadcasting Division in San Antonio; and President/General Manager of KENS-TV in San Antonio.

His current industry positions include service as a member of the Board of Directors of the NAB, USO (National Board of the United Services Organization in Washington, DC), The Broadcasters’ Foundation (Greenwich, CT) and the UPN Television Board of Governors.

Josh Sheffield
Josh Sheffield joined the Board of Trustees as the representative from the Student Government Association, which he serves as president.

Mr. Sheffield is a native of Houston. He is majoring in Banking & Finance, and plans to graduate in 2004.

He is a member of the Business Club and the Greek life community. His hobbies include tracking investments on the stock market, going to the movies and reading.

Sister Teresa Yolanda Maya
Sister Teresa Maya serves as principal of La Paz Catholic Academy College in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico.

Sr. Maya received a BA in History from Yale University and a MA in Theology from The Graduate Theological Union from Berkeley, California. She holds a doctorate in History from El Colegio De Mexico from Mexico City.

 

Jesus Rangel
Jesus Rangel is Vice President of Corporate Relations for Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc., parent company of the world’s largest brewer, Anheuser-Busch, Inc.

A graduate of the University of Maryland, Mr. Rangel also completed graduate work at Stanford University.

He has also been a visiting faculty member at the University of California-Berkeley.

Mr. Rangel has held various positions with The New York Times and The San Diego Union, and also was editor of the National Catholic News Service. He has been a news correspondent in Texas, California, Miami, Boston, New York, and Washington, D.C. Mr. Rangel is also a founder and former board member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and serves as Chairman of the Board of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. In addition, he is a current or past member of the boards of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund and The Tomas Rivera Center. He is also a past member of the UIW Board of Trustees.
